September 3 Blog Hop!

Hosted by Jen at Crazy-for-Books!

This week's question is:

Do you judge a book by its cover?

Oh man, I must admit that I do. More so, I think I judge by the spine. If the font is nice and there are pretty colors, I'm much more likely to pick it up and thumb through it. As for covers, I'm a sucker for a picture of a pretty dress, being a historical fiction lover! If covers are unattractive, I tend to immediately have a negative feel to the book....though I recently read a book with a truly horrendous cover (truly awful) that I ended up loving! Oh well. :)

Happy weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

  3. I too judge a book firstly by it's cover and title. It is the blurb that will have the final vote in whether I select that book.

    enjoy ur weekend

  7. Stopping by via the hop...I think it all depends - there's a place and time when book covers come into play as to whether I will read the book.

    Happy Friday!

  9. stopping by from the hop, great article on the movie The Young Victoria, I've had that on my radar for a while too. Looks like I need to up it on my netflix queue!

I used to read a ton of historical stuff, and have been meaning to get back into it, so now I know where to come for reviews! Have you read any Stephen Lawhead? He tends to take the history and make it work the way he wants a bit, but it's still good stuff.

  15. Hopping by to say hello. Salacious covers turn me off; dull covers do not bother me. I hopefully bring my own senses to a book.

  16. found you from blog hop.

I was currious, what book was it that had a horrible cover that you ended up loving?

If you'd like to see my answer to the question, my blog is at:

  17. Yeah, there's been a few times when I've loved a book even though the cover was bad...that's when I feel guilty for pre-judging the poor thing.

  18. I recently began collecting a series because of the spines. I know that sounds crazy to the average reader; but book bloggers aren't average, now, are we? Stopping by on the hop.

  21. I'm late getting to my hopping this week, but stopped in to say hello. A lot of the titles on the list of books you can't believe you've never read are on my "guilt list" which is 100 books long. So much good literature out there to read isn't there? Enjoy your weekend, Dianne
