July 29 Blog Hop!

Hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books!

This week's question is:
Who is your favorite new-to-you author so far this year?

I would most likely say Jean Plaidy, even though she's been around forever! I read my first book by her this year, Murder Most Royal (you can find my review for it here!), and absolutely adored it! I hope to check out one of her books on Eleanor of Aquitaine and Mary Tudor (Henry VIII's sister, not daughter).

Anybody else read anything by her? What would you recommend? Thanks for hopping by!

  16. Hi there...stopping by from the blog hop. I also love historical fiction, but read other books as well. I read the Philippa Gregory tudor series and fell in love! I haven't tried Jean Plaidy yet, but have a few of her books on my TBR list. Have you read Christine Trent's The Queen's Dollmaker - it was great and is set during Marie Antoinette's reign.

You can find me at Always With A Book if you feel like stopping by.

I'm a new follower and will be back soon!

  27. Visiting from the Hop ... and you're right about Jean Plaidy being around forever. I've never read her but in high school (a million years ago), I worked in a library and she was one of the most popular authors our patrons checked out.

  28. Found you on the blog hop. I love historical fiction, the further back the better. I've been trying to get through one called the Labryinth which goes back and forth between present day and 1400's maybe and I just can't slog through it. I need more history of the time to understand it. It's one I picked up off the bargain bin. Have another called The Last Witch Finder. Let me know if you know anything about them. I'll peruse your site for some good recommendations. I don't just read YA. I have to have something to discuss with my mom and mother-in-law. I'm a new follower. Hope you'll have time to check my site out. Heather

  31. I'm stopping by on the hop and I'm going to start following you. I looked a few posts down and have to say I have wanted to read Alison Weir's historical fiction since I heard she had started publishing it, but haven't gotten a chance/in the mood to tackle it yet.

In I was reading her popular histories of (mostly) War of the Roses and Tudor England. I'd recommend them if you haven't already read them.

Sex with the Queen looks interesting too!
